Falling

Have you ever had a dream where you are falling and you can actually feel yourself falling? It happened to me the other night. The feeling was so real that when I woke up it took me some time to realize I'm in my bed and not floating in the air, haha!

So that's how I came up with "Falling". It's a pretty simple illustration that would've taken me no more than 10 minutes, if it wasn't for the hair details. I've just got this thing about hair, you know...

Peacock Feathers

First day of April finally felt like spring. Me, my boy and Dexter were out the whole day, enjoying the lovely weather and spending some quality time together. "Peacock feathers" is a quickie I did for a very special friend of mine who has a birthday today. What do you think, will she like it?

Closer

I think my Forms project will take a little longer than I'd planned. Firstly, because it's waaay too difficult to think of 30 different, but yet similar illustrations. Secondly, because at some point it gets really boring. And thirdly, because using just one colour isn't as fun as using all you want. That is why I took a break today (again) to draw this. It's nothing like my other illustrations, but experimenting is always good, right?

Although I am mainly working on Forms (who would have known that coming up with 30 basic illustrations would be so hard?) I wanted a little break from grey and white. I used one of my old sketches for "Close" and tried to keep it as simple and realistic as I could (I'm not very good at realistic drawing.) What do you think?

I am a king in my tiny little kingdom

I was juuuust about to fall asleep last night when this idea popped up in my head. Okay, I admit it: Depeche Mode's "Free Love" video may have influenced me a little, since I watched it a million times yesterday and there was this bea-u-tiful pink royal chair... I had to draw it! :)

Girl on a swing

When I finished this drawing I realized that the girl looks a little bit like Alice (at least in my imagination) and was happy about that because it was absolutely unintentional. The texture I used for the background is my new super favourite and you'll be seeing it a lot. Oh, and there's the special love symbol, did you spot it?

Artwall!

I finally added some new prints to my art wall and I can officially say that it is now complete.

I started with only three - the Egyptian hieroglyphs (exclusively drawn by my boy!) and the two prints on top of it - the apple picker and the shy green lady. And piece by piece I arranged it to look as it does now.

This art wall is in our living room and I have the idea of having one more - in the bedroom. I've decided that since all the prints on this wall are drawn by me, all the prints on the other one would be someone else's work. Guess what I'm starting with: Happy Moment, sent to me by Monique. How's that for a start? :)

Cry Me A River

I almost never draw sketches. To be exact, I rarely have an idea of what to draw in the first place. I just open my Photoshop and my hand knows what to do. Sounds strange but that's just how it is. The same story goes for ""Cry Me a River" - I started drawing and this is what came of it in the end. No deep thinking or hidden messages :)

Just Another Girl

I wanted to draw a pattern, but I decided it was too boring. Then I wanted to draw a medieval princess (I'm all about mid-age right now, ha!) but it didn't work out so in the end... i came up with a princess-looking girl in a strange patterned dress.

It took me about 3 hours to finish the dress itself and I was so so tired in the end that everything else I drew for about 15 minutes. Not my best work, I know, but I'll definitely use this pattern a lot in future drawings.

Peacock

It took me forever to finish this one.

Per usual, my idea was slightly different. I wanted to draw a huge illustration of a peacock with lots of colours and details. I looked at tons of photos of this lovely bird and wanted to draw it as realistic as possible. Then, when I finished it, it was nothing like my other illustrations. (in a bad way, though.)

Drawing realistic images was never my strong point. That is why I started all over again (a couple of times, actually) until I came up with this... It still looks like a peacock (at least to me!) and has my own signature. Isn't that what's the most important?

Queen of the Ocean

My laptop is back, my Photoshop is working properly and I can't be happier!

Calendar!

This calendar was planned a long time ago, but I guess I had to clear my head off of everything else (by still not having my laptop fixed) to remind myself of the idea. Drawing it was a real adventure, actually. Firstly, when I finished with half of the months and planned the pictures of the other half, Dexter came out of nowhere to lick all of the little cards and smear the ink. Cute, right? So, I started all over again... and at the time I was colouring the sweet July cherries, the electricity went off. For the whole night! I was too excited about the calendar to leave it half done, that I finished the rest on candle light. How romantic is that?

I used super pretty recycled cardboard paper and my favourite fountain-pen and I actually like this calendar more than the one I had started on Photoshop. Moreover, it's one of a kind!

P.S. - I drew that with a fountain-pen and printed it later on cardboard. It was so much fun! My PS may be broken, but that doesn't mean I will stop drawing now, does it?

Oh noes!

True fact: I cannot live without Photoshop. Does that make me super nerdy?

It's just that I have soooo many ideas both in my head and sketchbook and I cannot work on them because my Photoshop is playing tricks on me. I now work with pastels and acrylics but I reaaally miss drawing with my tablet and can't wait to get my laptop fixed and PS reinstalled (hope that works!).
